              AIM

The aim of this assignment is to give students a comprehensive understanding of many of the aspect of ancient Rome. Students will learn how the republic was transformed into the most powerful and influential empire in human history, from the people involved to the influence that is felt today.

             RATIONALE

It is as important to learn about past civilizations as it is to learn about our own. The cultures of the past are the reason that we exist in the manner in which we do today. if we fail to learn about how we have arrived at this point in human history, than we can never move foward. history has shown this to be true. the medieval period is often referred to as the "Dark Ages", because many of the people of that era failed to recognize and build on the civilizations of the past, and therefor could not move foward.  No other civilization or culture, arguably, has been as influential as that of ancient Rome. The students who has an understanding of ancient civilizations will have a greater understanding of how our civilization has arrived at this point, and can play a role, be it small or large, in the advancement of our own civilization, avoiding another "Dark Age".

Students be sure to sign in.
